Terms of Service
Last updated: October 3, 2026
These Terms govern your use of Building Code Assist, an online building-code reference and drawing-review service operated from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Who may use the service
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use Building Code Assist. You are responsible for the activity conducted through your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.
What the service provides
Building Code Assist helps users search building-code material, generate answers, and, where available, review drawings and prepare checklists or reports. Some features and plan details may change as the service is developed.
The service is for reference and informational purposes only. It does not provide architectural, engineering, legal, or other regulated professional services, and using it does not create a professional-client relationship. AI-generated answers, citations, drawing interpretations, and reports may be incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date. They do not establish that a design or building complies with a code or law.
You must independently verify all information against the applicable official code and project documents, and have design and compliance decisions reviewed by a licensed professional with the appropriate expertise. Do not rely on Building Code Assist as the sole basis for a design, construction, permitting, safety, or compliance decision.
Accounts and acceptable use
You agree to provide accurate account information, use the service lawfully, and not interfere with its operation or security. You may only submit questions, drawings, and other material that you have the right to provide and have processed. Do not upload confidential or sensitive project information unless you are authorized to share it with the service providers described in our Privacy Policy.
We may restrict or suspend access if reasonably necessary to protect the service, its users, or our service providers, or to address unlawful or abusive use.
Your content
You retain your rights to the material you submit. You give us permission to host, reproduce, transmit, and process that material only as needed to provide, secure, and support the service, including through our contracted hosting, authentication, payment, and AI service providers. We do not claim ownership of your project material.
You are responsible for retaining copies of important materials and outputs. You may delete individual conversations or analyses where the relevant controls are available. Account deletion requests can be sent to admin@buildingcodeassist.ca.

Disclaimers and limits on liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service and its outputs are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties or guarantees about accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. You are responsible for decisions made using the service and for obtaining appropriate professional review.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Building Code Assist is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary losses, or for losses arising from your reliance on service content or an inability to use the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes a liability or right that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Changes and governing law
We may update these Terms by posting a revised version with a new “Last updated” date. We will provide notice of material changes through the service or by email where appropriate. These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and applicable laws of Canada. Courts located in British Columbia will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights you have under applicable law.
